The Atlanta Lawyers' Orchestra was formed in Autumn, 1999 by Alysa B. Freeman. The ALO was created to bring together people who work in the legal field in order to make music and to enjoy each other's company in a non-legal setting. The orchestra is currently composed of more than 20 dedicated members, consisting of attorneys, law students, paralegals, legal secretaries and other musicians who are not in the legal field. Indeed, the ALO welcomes all musicians who are interested in playing and performing with us.

Orchestra

The ALO is modeled after established lawyers' orchestras in New York, Boston and Chicago. We usually perform five or six concerts each year, including at least two public service concerts. We regularly rehearse on Monday evenings. Our first rehearsals were held at The Atlanta Opera's rehearsal facility and in the band room at Druid Hills High School. Since Spring 2000, the Atlanta Lawyers' Orchestra has been rehearsing in the auditorium of The William Breman Jewish Nursing Home. On June 15, 2000, the ALO had its first public concert at the Douglasville Borders Books & Music Store at the Arbor Place Mall. The concert was a wonderful success, and we look forward to giving many more concerts over the years to come. We received our grant of non-profit 501(c)(3) status in early 2002.
